The move to NAB

Transaction and
savings accounts

About the changes

NAB has been the provider of your products since 1 June 2022. As the next phase of our journey, Citi branded transaction and savings accounts will be moved to a similar NAB branded account. The move is expected to occur on 24 February 2024, and we’ll give you notice before we move your funds to your NAB branded account.  If you hold other Citi branded accounts, including a home loan, investment, credit card or personal loan, you will continue to receive separate communications about changes ahead of time.

For credit card and personal lending accounts you can continue to use your account as normal. If there are changes to these accounts, we will let you know ahead of time.

If you have questions about these changes, please explore our FAQs below.

What happens next

Your NAB branded transaction or savings account will be created and ready to begin using from November 2023. You’ll receive your NAB branded account details and NAB branded debit card (if applicable) to give you time to set up your direct debits, salary credits, and payID before your funds are transferred over from your Citi branded account.

Your Citi branded account and Citi Debit Mastercard will be closed on 24 February 2024, and your NAB branded account and applicable NAB branded debit card will continue.

If you haven’t already done so, we will transfer the funds in your Citi branded account to your NAB branded account for you on 24 February 2024, and we’ll notify you ahead of this occurring.

Here’s how to recognise genuine communications from us.

Changes to your direct debits and regular payments

If you have direct debits, regular payments (including BPAY) coming in or out of your account such as your pay, the gym, subscriptions or bills and you want these to continue after your account has moved, you’ll need to update these when you receive your NAB branded account or card details.

We understand switching payments can be inconvenient, and we’ll provide you with a list of active direct debits set up to your account to ensure this process is as smooth as possible.

  • Activate your NAB Visa debit card when receive it.

You can now choose to transfer your funds and start using your NAB branded account, otherwise, we’ll do this for you on 24 February 2024. We’ll let you know when we’re about to move your funds and again once the transfer has occurred.

You can continue to use your Citi branded account as you normally do until 24 February 2024.

IMPORTANT: If you move funds from your Citibank Offset Savings Account to your NAB Classic Banking account prior to 24 February 2024, then these funds will not offset interest payable under your Citi Standard Offset Home Loan account until 24 February 2024. This is because the NAB Classic Banking account is not linked to your Citi Standard Offset Home Loan account.
