Frequently asked questions

  • Is the Citi instalment plan part of my existing credit limit?

Yes, the Citi instalment plan uses part of your existing credit limit. Every time you make a repayment, the amount paid becomes available again — as part of your credit limit, which is subject to the interest rate you pay on your credit card balance at the time.

  • What are the minimum and maximum amounts I can request for Citi instalment plans?

    • For both Citi Quick Cash and Citi FlexiBill, the minimum is $500.

    • For PayLite, the minimum is $50.

    • For Citi Quick Cash the maximum amount is 90% of your available credit limit.

  • Can I have more than one Citi instalment plan?

Yes, you can have more than one Citi Instalment Plan on your card as long as the total amount of all plans is within your credit limit. However, you can only set up one Citi FlexiBill plan per statement period.

  • How do I make an instalment plan repayment?

Your instalment plan repayment appears on your monthly statement and is included in your Minimum Payment Due. You pay it in the same way you pay your monthly statement.

  • How does the instalment plan repayment appear on my statement?

The Instalment Plan will appear as a 'Fixed Payment Option' on your statement which will include a summary of your progress. Any initial interest charge or instalment due will be included in the Minimum Payment Due.

  • When will I be charged my first monthly instalment?

During the cycle in which the instalment plan is set up, you will be charged an initial interest charge which will be included in the Minimum Payment Due on your next statement (not applicable if your instalment plan Annual Percentage rate, APR, is 0%). Subsequent statements will include an instalment for each month of the term.

  • Am I still eligible for an interest free period on purchases not in an instalment plan?

You may still be eligible if you pay the closing balance on your statement by the Payment Due Date each month (excluding any instalment plan balance which isn’t due for payment by that Payment Due Date). No interest free period is available on cash advances or balance transfers.

  • What happens if I fail to make an initial interest charge and monthly repayment by the due date?

If you fail to make a repayment by the due date the repayment will be charged at the retail purchase rate that applies from the day after the due date. We may cancel your Citi instalment plan, which means any outstanding balance of your Citi instalment plan will revert to the retail purchase interest rate (for Citi FlexiBill and Citi PayLite) and the cash advance rate (for Citi Quick Cash).

  • Can I pay more than the instalment plan repayment?

Yes, you may. If you’d like to make an additional repayment on your Citi instalment plan, please contact us beforehand, by sending a secure message (details below) — allowing up to two working days for us to process your request. Once you receive a confirmation from us, you can make an additional repayment to your Citi instalment plan.

To send a secure message, please sign into your Citi online account, then click on Services, then My Profile, then My Messages. In your message, please include the amount you’d like to pay, as well as details of the relevant Citi instalment plan. Alternatively, call us on 13 24 84 (or, if you’re overseas, +61 2 8225 0615).

The only exception to this is if the Citi instalment plan is your only outstanding balance. In this case, then your additional repayment will be allocated to it automatically and there is no need to contact us.

  • Can I change the term of my Citi instalment plan?

Yes, you may be able to change it to a shorter or longer term if you wish to, and if that term is available. To make a change, please contact us or call us on 13 24 84.

  • Can I pay off my Citi instalment plan anytime?

Yes, you can pay off your Citi instalment plan anytime, without early repayment fees. To arrange this, you can send a secure message. Please sign into your Citi online account, then click on Services, then My Profile, then My Messages. In your message, please include the amount you’d like to pay, as well as details of the relevant Citi instalment plan. Alternatively, call us on 13 24 84 (or, if you’re overseas, +61 2 8225 0615).

Things you should know

Citi instalment plan is defined in the Credit Card Terms and Conditions and Other Important Information as a Fixed Payment Option. Fixed Payment Option offers are subject to eligibility and only available if your account is and remains in good standing. Your Fixed Payment Option uses part of your existing credit limit. As you pay off your Fixed Payment Option, the amount you pay off will become available for you to use again as part of your credit limit at the standard Annual Percentage Rate (APR) applicable to your account.

A fee may apply to set up a Fixed Payment Option.

During the cycle in which a Fixed Payment Option is set up, you will be charged an initial interest charge which will be included in the Minimum Payment Due on your next statement (not applicable if the FPO APR is 0%). Subsequent statements will include an instalment for each month of the term.

While you have a Fixed Payment Option, payments will be applied to your initial interest charge or monthly instalment before all other balances, even if they attract a higher rate of interest.

If you miss a monthly payment, interest at the retail APR will be charged on any unpaid instalment or initial interest charge. Your Fixed Payment Option may also be cancelled. If your Fixed Payment Option is cancelled, the outstanding balance of your Fixed Payment Option will revert to the retail APR for Citi PayLite and Citi FlexiBill and the cash advance APR for Citi Quick Cash.

For the full terms and conditions that apply to Fixed Payment Options, please refer to the Credit Card Terms and Conditions and Other Important Information.
