Find out how to transfer money to someone in another country

Choose platform

You can transfer funds overseas by using the Citi Mobile® App or Citi Online. Follow the steps below.

Log in to the Citi Mobile® App

Step 1. Log in to the Citi Mobile® App

Tap on 'Payments'

Step 2. Tap on 'Payments'

Choose 'Local & Overseas' from the options

Step 3. Choose 'Local & Overseas' from the options

Select ‘Someone else’ from the options

Step 4. Select 'Someone else' from the options

Select ‘New Payee’

Step 5. Select 'New Payee'

Choose the country you would like to transfer to

Step 6. Choose the country you would like to transfer to

Add the international payee’s bank details

Step 7. Add the international payee's bank details

Add the international payee’s personal details

Step 8. Add the international payee’s personal details

Make sure the payee details are correct and tab 'Acknowledge'

Enter the amount and choose relevant currency

Review information on confirmation screen and tab 'Send' if you wish to proceed

You will be asked to enter your 4 digit Unlock Code for a first time payment to a new payee

'Transfer Sent' screen will appear. Tab 'Done' to finish

Log in to Citi Online

Step 1. Log in to Citi Online

Click on Payments & Transfers button from the top navigation

Step 2. Click on 'Payments & Transfers' button from the top navigation

Enter the One-Time PIN when prompted. The One-Time PIN will be sent to your registered mobile number

 Click ‘Make a Payment or Transfer’ from the menu on the left

Step 4. Click 'Make a Payment or Transfer' from the menu on the left

Select ‘Add a Payee’

Step 5. Select 'Add a Payee'

Select 'Overseas Bank Account' from the Payee Type dropdown list

Step 6. Select 'Overseas Bank Account' from the Payee Type dropdown list

Add new payee details and click ‘Find’ to look up bank name

Step 7. Add new payee details and click 'Find' to look up bank name

Use the search options available to find the bank

Step 8. Use the search options available to find the bank

Add the payment details and click ‘Next’

Step 9. Add the payment details and click 'Next'

Check the details are correct and click ‘Acknowledge’

 Click ‘Confirm’ to set up new payee

Step 11. Click 'Confirm' to set up new payee

 Click ‘Make a Payment / Transfer’ from the menu on the left

Step 12. Click 'Make a Payment / Transfer' from the menu on the left

Select the account you want to make the payment from and choose the international payee you want to transfer to

Enter the payment details and press ‘Next’

Review the details to make sure they’re correct, then click ‘Confirm’

Receiving money from an overseas account

To receive international transfers, Citi Australia's SWIFT code is NATAAU34. To ensure payments correctly route to your Citi Australia account please provide this SWIFT code to the sender. The sender will need to include this code when initiating the payment to you.

There may be some instances where the sender’s bank requires additional information to route the payment to you. In those instances the following directions can be provided: Payments to Citi Australia (NATAAU34) are routed via the intermediary bank CITIAU2X. A currency intermediary may also be required. Please refer to the swift reference table to determine the currency intermediary.

Transfering money to another financial institution overseas

You will need the following information to make transfers to an overseas bank:

  • Payee name and address
  • Country
  • Bank name
  • SWIFT code or IBAN to identify the receiving financial institution around the world.

If you are sending money to an overseas Citi account please refer to the Citi SWIFT code table below.
