Activating your card

The quickest way to activate your card is through the Citi Mobile® App or Citi Online.

First Time Users Activation

If you are a first-time user

Once you receive your new card, follow the steps below.

  • Download the Citi Mobile® App
  • Click ‘Activate card’ from the app launch screen
  • Register using your new card number and CVV number

Existing users card activation

If you already have the Citi Mobile® App

  • Log in to the Citi Mobile® App
  • On the home screen, click 'Activate your card' under the 'Cards' section
  • Follow the prompts to activate your card. You will need your CVV number to activate.

Existing user card activation

If you don't have a Citi Online account

You can activate your card at the same time as creating an account.

  • Visit the Citi Online Sign On page
  • Click on the 'Register' button above the sign on screen
  • Follow the prompts to activate your card, register for Citi Online and set up your PIN. You will need your card details and your mobile phone to activate.

Existing user card activation

If you already have a Citi Online account

Follow the steps below to activate your card.

  • Log in to your Citi Online account
  • Select 'My Profile' from the 'Services' menu on the top
  • Select 'Card Activation' under the 'My Profile' menu on the left
  • Follow the prompts to activate your card

Digital Card Activation

Activate the digital version of your card before your physical card arrives.

If your card is eligible* for digital activation, you can activate and add it to your mobile wallet using the Citi Mobile® App.

  • Log in to the Citi Mobile® App
  • If your card is eligible for digital activation, you will see a pop-up message saying 'Your digital card is available'
  • Click 'Activate digital card' and follow the prompts to activate

Important: Please keep in mind that once your physical card arrives it will still need to be activated. For more information see Digital Card FAQs >

*Digital card activation is currently only available for existing Citi customers applying for the Citi Rewards Card. Check back here for future updates as we will continue to make more cards eligible for digital activation.

Apple Pay

Add your card to Apple Pay

Apple Pay is a secure, safe and contactless way to pay in-store and online.
You can add your card to Apple Pay by following these steps.

  • Log in to the Citi Mobile® App
  • Tap the 'Profile and Settings' icon on the top left
  • Go to 'Cards / Accounts' section under 'Financial Settings'
  • Choose your card from the 'Cards' tab
  • Click on the 'Use with Apple Pay' section and follow the prompts to add your card to Apple Pay.

Samsung Pay

Samsung Pay

Samsung Pay lets you use your compatible Samsung device to securely pay with your Citi card in store and within apps.

To add your card to Samsung Pay follow the steps below:

  • Download the Samsung Pay app
  • Sign in using your Samsung Account
  • Set up your fingerprint for authentication
  • Take a photo of your card and enter in the remaining required details
  • Enter in the unique code sent to you via SMS

Google Pay is an easy and secure way to pay using your AndroidTM phone or compatible smartwatch. Once you've completed the set up process, you'll be able to use Google Pay where contactless payments are available, or where the Google Pay logo appears online.

Citi Mobile App

Adding an additional cardholder

You can share your card with one additional card holder (16+ only).

To apply for an additional cardholder, follow the steps below:

  • Log in to your Citi Online account
  • Select 'Card Services' from the 'Services' menu located in the top menu bar
  • Click 'Apply for New Card' from the left-hand menu, then select 'Additional Cardholder'
  • For security, you’ll be asked to enter a One-Time PIN that will be sent to your mobile phone before you can make the change.
  • Complete all required fields in the online application form to submit your request.

Important: The additional cardholder must activate the card and they will need their mobile number to do so. Please make sure you provide the additional cardholder's mobile number when you apply for the card.


Register for eStatements

Receive eStatements in your inbox, free, each month. You can register in a few easy steps through Citi Online.

  • Login to your Citi Online account
  • Select 'My Profile' from the 'Services' menu located in the top menu
  • Select 'Statements' from the left-hand menu, then click 'Register/Edit eStatement'
  • Create an eStatement Password. You will need this to open your eStatements.
  • Agree to the Terms and Conditions and click 'Confirm'.

Note: You must have an email address registered to receive eStatements. The first eStatement will be available in your next statement cycle.

Changing your card PIN

Citi Mobile App

To change your card PIN, follow the steps below.

  • Log in to the Citi Mobile® App
  • Tap the 'Profile and Settings' icon on the top left
  • Go to 'Cards / Accounts' under 'Financial Settings'
  • Select your Card from the Cards tab and click on 'Reset PIN'

To change your card PIN follow the steps below.

  • Log in to your Citi Online account
  • Select 'My Profile' from the 'Services' menu located in the top menu
  • Under the 'My Profile' menu on the left, click on 'Change ATM PIN'
  • Follow the prompts to change your PIN. For security, you’ll be asked to enter a One-Time PIN that will be sent to your mobile phone before you can make the change.

Changing your Debit Card Linkage

To update your Debit Card Linkage follow the steps below.

  • Log in to the Citi Mobile® App
  • Tap 'Profile and Settings' icon on the top left
  • Tap on 'Cards / Accounts'
  • Tap on Debit Card
  • Tap on Account Linkage
  • Select account link to
  • Select 'Update'
  • Select 'Done'

To update your Debit Card Linkage follow the steps below.

  • Log in to your Citi Online account
  • Select 'Deposits Services' from the 'Services' menu located in the top menu
  • Under the 'Deposits Services' menu on the left, click on ‘Debit Card Linkage’
  • Enter the One-Time PIN when prompted. The One-Time PIN will be sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Select your Debit Card under the Dropbox
  • Select the account you want to link to the Debit Card, Click Next
  • Verify the Debit Card linkage details, Click Confirm
  • Your Debit Card is now linked, Click Done
